FOR the sixth year running, the Royal College of Art will be showcasing modern and contemporary art from the UK, as well as work from China, India, Japan, Russia, Poland, Serbia and the Ukraine. The show, which is due to be opened by Jeffrey Archer, also features artwork from many European countries, as well as a special exhibit from Australia, making it the perfect exhibition for both artist and cultural analysis. Following on from its previous success, the Royal College will be increasing the number of stands to 60.
International names include Braque, Chagall, Matisse, Miro, Picasso (all works on paper), plus British favourites such as Peter Blake, Damien Hirst, David Hockney and Henry Moore, combined with many emerging and lesser known artists who are waiting to be discovered. The artwork will include oils, original prints, watercolours, drawings, photography, sculpture and ceramics, all ranging from 1900 – present. The Royal College is also showcasing a display from their Printmaking Department.
“We were delighted with the 2011 fair,” say organisers, Gay Hutson and Angela Wynn who also run the successful 20/21 British Art Fair each September at the same venue, “Increasing the number of stands gave visitors a wider variety of art to enjoy but the fair still managed to retain its intimate ambience and friendly atmosphere which is what people say makes it so special.”
