ALTHOUGH in many ways a predictable eventuality, it's with open arms that we welcome a solo release from serial collaborator, Jack White (of The White Stripes). Having recorded with the likes of Brendon Benson, Alicia Keys and Insane Clown Posse, it was only natural that the monochrome musician would eventually run out of sidekicks.
Singles, cynics and anyone whose ever been truly screwed over, this one is dedicated to you.
In fact, the only reason he actually ended up recording his self-produced material in his Nashville studio, Third Man, was because an unnamed artist failed to show up for their session. White explained in an interview with Zane Lowe, "A few months ago, we had a session booked and someone didn't show up, so I said, 'I guess we'll do some of my songs'... It kickstarted the whole process."
The first taster of the album is 'Love Interruption'. Just in time for Valentine's, the track is an unsurprisingly bitter ode to love from a recently-divorced White.
"I want love to stick a knife inside me and twist it all around
I want love to murder my own mother and take her off to somewhere like hell or up above"
