THE brainchilds behind the label SIBLING, surprised us all at last month’s London Fashion Week with their fabulous SISTER collection. SISTER is a fun, kitchy collection for women, designed through the collaboration of Sid Bryan, Joe Bates and Cozette McCreery. Already a hit with Topshop, the line is aimed at a younger crowd, dare we say, a quirky genre of girls. The collection surrounds a theme of the fairground, using bright colours, leopard print and exaggerated fluffy, pink jackets. However, the collection is not garish, its bright colours are not harsh and it complements SIBLING’s male collection. The designers have created a bold, upbeat Spring/Summer collection and have really captured today’s young Anglo-American generation and it is set to be in the shops by January next year. SIBLING is ultimately a men’s knitwear label, that has successfully made a name for itself on the London fashion scene over the last few years and the move into women’s design was the natural progresion. Originally the designers hail from Yorkshire, Leicester and London and get their inspirations from dodgems, hotdogs and waltzers, and describe Walt Disney as one of their design influences. The fun, 1950s inspired jumpers and T-shirts are easy to wear and great to layer. Look out for these emerging designers in the new year, and like the people down at London Fashion Week, we hope for another collection for the girls.
