Dans Le Noir: 89 - 87

Secondo is a retro café-come-second hand vintage clothes shop in the day, hidden in the arches underneath the railway in Clapham Common. Come the night (on the weekends) this coolest of cool spaces transforms into a wild swing/jazz/1950s party with people dressed up in all the garb and a lot of the times there is also a live band. As the night rolls on, this tunnelled bar turns to a DJ hidden in a caravan at the back of the building, pumping out music throughout all the decades late into the night. In fact, it is one of the only places south of the river that is open until 3am. Without a doubt this is one of the best bars in the Clapham/Battersea area. It’s also perfect for hiring out for a private event up to 120 people – impress all your mates with your own 1950s party!

Wide-E1315084534687 Electric Social
Electric Social is a new bar in Brixton, not actually open until 30th September. It is a truly unique space, with a large and welcoming downstairs bar and restaurant, long social, almost Asian style, dining tables line your way to the British inspired cocktail bar. Retro record covers adorn the walls and the jewel in Electric Socials crown is undoubtedly the sunken booth in the heart of the bar with the DJ perched conveniently above spinning classics to keep your head bobbing all night long. Upstairs is perfect for a shindig and a good old knee's ups, a live music venue, cracking sound system and VIP bar with floor to ceiling glassed windows with a tasty view over the streets of Brixton. Their philosophy is a country manor with an urban twist and here’s a tip: Electric Social will be a perfect place for Sunday afternoons; great roast dinners, great music and a great atmosphere accompanied by reggae beats. This will become one of the most popular destinational bars in London.

GloGlos is a super sleek, super cool basement bar in the heart of Shoreditch/Old Street area. You may have walked straight past the entrance on many occasions. Look out for a bright orange door next to the Great Eastern Dining Room and head on down. As you head down you are greeted by their 'reception' team and then open the door and you are in. A beautiful circular room, with a huge bar in the middle of the room flanked by leather banquettes all around it. The DJ is located in the corner pumping out funky beats. The outer wall is laden with booths and seating. The inspiration for the bar is Tokyo, so expect neon lighting and delicious Japanese Robata grill food. Sat at the bar, chatting to the extremely knowledgeable barman about cocktails and watching the cool and trendy shoreditchians dancing around to great music, makes you feel like you are in a special special place. When you are cocooned in GloGlos, you could be a million miles away from the Shoreditch streets above and when I had an old fashioned in one hand and a teriyaki skewer in the other, I really wished I could have been cocooned forever!
