A trip to the serene streets of Notting Hill for any activity always entails, for me anyway, indulging in some sort of luxury, be it my favourite tapas joint on Portobello Road, or, in this case a spa treatment at the Hydrohealing centre nestled on Kensington Park Road. You’ve probably guessed from the name of the centre that it’s not your everyday conventional spa joint.
Hydrohealing specialises in water-based therapies including wellness treatments such as Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD), a gentle message therapy used to drain excess fluid from the body and improve the overall functioning of the immune system. Detox, spa body, facials and beauty treatments and gender specific techniques are also available.
I was booked in for a 60 minute Hydroblitz treatment, a massage therapy that claims to eradicate cellulite, nourish and tone the skin and re-sculpt the natural contours of the body. With most spa treatments, you tend to visualise a pure, calm and tranquil environment, but believe me, on first inspection, the Hydroblitz treatment did not tick these boxes. I walked into the treatment room slightly intimidated by a large and ominous piece of machinery. Yet, my lovely therapist, with her extensive and well-informed knowledge of the treatment quickly laid my fears to rest.
As to the treatment, after the first few minutes of personal apprehension, I soon drifted away into a perfect state of relaxation as the hydroblitz worked its magic over the surface area of my skin. It didn’t occur to me until the lady informed me 45 minutes into the treatment that my time was nearly up, an illustration of how much my mind was immersed in the warming comforts of the hydroblitz.
I left feeling refreshed, rejuvenated and even after only one treatment, much more toned and firm. If the thought of donning a bikini this summer fills you with dread, this treatment really is for you. With a few hydroblitzes in the bag, your cellulite doesn;t stand a chance.
