Vaishaly Facial Review

OVER the years I would say that I have had at least 100 facials. Some good, some so-so and some that I would only recommend to my archenemies – and then there are the handful of spas that are so committed to beautiful, healthy skin that I still daydream about them. And to be honest, it’s been awhile since I have come across this kind of urban oasis. That is, until I was introduced to Vaishaly. Tucked away on a quiet street in Marylbone, the spa is a celeb magnet with A-listers like Gwyneth Paltrow, Sophie Dahl and Elle Macpherson lining up for a chance to experience Vaishaly’s magical touch.

Alun_Callender_Photo_IMG_1828_CThe Vaishaly Signature Facial is a bespoke treatment that is tailored to your skin’s individual needs. OK, so nothing new there really, but the secret to this super facial is the sequence of treatments – and Vaishaly’s line of skincare products, but we’ll get to those in a minute. After two cleansings and non-invasion extractions, a very gentle course of micro-dermabrasion is performed. This sloughs off dull, dead skin and allows for better absorption of serums and other creams. Plus, it’s the fastest way to give your skin a refreshed glow. After the microdermabrasion, a high frequency wand is used all over the face to close pores, kill acne-causing bacteria and promote a clearer, smoother and more radiant complexion. The next step is the clincher though – the ‘anti-aging beauty secret’, Vaishaly’s own facial massage technique.

The deep facial massage works to melt away tension and stress, which actually causes fine lines to disappear and puffiness to vanish. I actually looked different when I walked out of the spa, and well, being lulled into the deep relaxation usually reserved for bedtime isn’t a bad side effect either. I can’t chalk up my miraculous makeover to this one little massage though, the products played a big part of it as well. I could go on about all of them, but I’ll just mention my two favourites (for now).

Vaishaly Clinic 2

Firstly, the Cleansing Balm is an oil-based product consisting of lavender, geranium, peppermint, lemon, ylang ylang and rose absolute. Not only do you get a dose of hydration, all the ingredients are healing, balancing and work to boost circulation. It is also free from parabens, mineral oil, lanolin, chemicals and perfume. Need I say more? The other product that I can no longer live without is the Night Nourisher, which contains the same essential oils, but also works to decongest and balance skin as well as guard against moisture loss, which is a must for the winter weather. I love that the products are both oil based – it’s like a visit to the spa each time I wash my face. Vaishaly recommends that you employ her massage techniques with the Night Nourisher, and again, a great way to end a long day.

There are a lot of beauty products on the market and it is a nightmare trying to decipher which ones do what and which are best for your skin type, but Vaishaly’s products are great for all skin types – especially those who want a clear, youthful glow. Any takers?
