It’s rare that a non-surgical beauty treatment changes your life. Sure, fresh highlights or a new cut are quick fixes (and let’s not underestimate the feel goodness of getting a great facial or full-body massage), but how often do you find a treatment that makes your life not only easier, but actually better?
First, let’s address the problem. Long, blond, semi-curly-but-mostly frizzy hair. You’ve seen girls with this sort of hair. It is thick, sometimes has a bit of wave or curl, but mostly it is beaten into straightened submission with an overheated combination of blow dryer/straightening iron or pulled back into a ponytail/braid/bun to keep it under control. Humidity and unexpected rain (gasp! horror!) are always the enemy. Swimming is not allowed and neither is leaving the house without a hat and umbrella on a drizzly or snowy day.
Yep, that’s me. Rarely is there time to both exercise and blowout my hair before work in the morning – I’d have to get up at 4am to get to work at 9am. As a result, my hair inevitably pull back, slicked down and ripe with fly-aways (read: breakages).

The Nanokeratin System keratin treatment has changed all of this. I was one of the early adapters when the Brazilian Blowout hit the States a couple of years ago, but after all the bad press regarding the amount of formaldehyde in the treatment, I decided to give other treatments a go.
Big mistake.
Not only did some leave my hair sticky and gross — and not allowed to wash it for three to five days — they lasted half of the normal time (keratin treatments should last roughly four months). Some smelled very chemically and others were double the price. Much to my chagrin, I thought my days of having silky, shiny, stress-free hair were over. But then on one gorgeous, if not unusually sunny and warm, Sunday afternoon, I headed down to Parsons Green to meet Jimmy Campbell. I was immediately impressed; it had been quite some time since someone asked me questions about my hair and lifestyle – and actually listened.
After what seemed like a catch up with an old friend, he explained what the Nanokeratin System is and why it actually is the best keratin treatment on the market. Like the other treatments, it both de-frizzes and repairs the hair leaving it super shiny, silky smooth and dry in about half the time. What makes this particular product different is that there are five different levels of the treatment, which can be tailored to meet your hair’s needs. The amount of protein and moisture is formulated by hand for each client ensuring your hair is getting exactly what it needs. Like my beloved Brazilian Blowout, the Nanokeratin System did not leave my hair sticky nor did it give off those horrible poisonous fumes. And just like that Jimmy has turned me into a convert.
So in case you were wondering, yes, it is suited to all hair types; yes, it repairs the hair and makes it healthier; yes, you will see immediate results if you have severely damaged hair; and yes, it is appropriate for both men and women. And with the rainy season just around the corner – can you (and your hair) afford not to pay Jimmy a visit?
