Winter Beauty Redux

IT'S hard to beat the colder months for fashion choices, but we don’t have to tell you that winter wreaks havoc on both your hair and skin. Pair the harsh outdoor conditions with radiators that zap both moisture and plumpness from the skin and it’s a wonder that we all don’t look like shrivelled raisins. What’s a girl to do? Cue the Scandinavians – if anyone knows how to handle cold weather it’s them.

Your winter beauty regime should include cream-based cleansers, hydrating mists and oils, both for the body and the face. Vitamin C brightens dull skin that is missing the sun’s kiss, and keep a multi-purpose salve handy at all times. These are our must-haves for the season.

Ole Henriksen African Red Tea Cleanser
A creamy cleanser that won’t strip the skin of its natural oils and uses potent botanical ingredients (African red tea, pumpkin extract and black currant seed oil) to revive the skin with anti-oxidants. It’s also sulphate and paraben-free. Available at HarveyNichols.com, £29.

Dr Bragi Intensive Treatment Mask
This professional strength mask targets dehydration, redness and early signs of aging. The skin will look plumper and brighter immediately. Use once a week to keep skin at its best or as a pre-party treat. Available at DrBragi.com, £10.

Ole Henriksen Truth Serum Collagen Booster
A combination of orange extract, green tea extract and a complete vitamin C complex works overtime to hydrate, brighten and smooth. The smell alone is enough to brighten even the glummest of days. Available at HarveyNichols.com, £53.

Móa The Green Balm
As multi-purpose as they come, this balm soothes itchy dry skin as well as bumps, bites and scratches. It works on chapped lips, windburned cheeks, razor burn, to fade stretch marks, remove eye makeup – the list goes on and on. It’s magical ingredients include yarrow, tea tree oil, beeswax, coconut, sweet almond and soya bean oil. Available at TheGreenBalm.com, £9.99.

Taer Icelandic Glacier Bath Oil
A must-have in every bathroom. As well as being the ultimate bath time pampering treat, a mixture of fennel, fir needles, peppermint and sweet birch essential oils disperse water retention detoxing the body and combatting the signs of cellulite. Available at Taer.com, £35.
