THE 23 January is known world-over as the gloomiest day of the year. We get it. It’s dark and dismal and you’re bored and broke. Christmas is over and so is the magic right? Wrong.
Determined to break tradition and bring ray of light, literally, to this notorious Monday, Trafalgar Square has proudly unveiled a very special art installation. For one day only, the Trafalgar Sun, a 30-foot, two and half ton, 60,000 light bulb equivalent, will be lighting the way for Londoners. Who could fail to smile at such a decadent gesture? London you never cease to entertain us.
Contemporary British Art Group, Greyworld, created the installation, commissioned by Tropicana as part of their Brighter Mornings campaign, with the aim to inspire the effect of an early morning sunrise. Not only that, there will be deckchairs available at the Square to encourage a little mid-morning sunshine indulgence. Catch a few rays whilst brightening your day, all in the name art. Not bad for Monday morning in January.
