Transport for London (TfL) announced in October the construction of a new cable car scheme over the River Thames from the O2 Arena to the ExCel Centre in east London.
Two months on and the first of three towers has just been erected on the north side of the Thames. Standing at 200 feet as well as being the shortest of the three, this if the first insight the public has had into the ambitious project.
Last week, TfL showcased how the 1.1km line will look on the tube map once completed. If you're curious to find out more then head to the London Transport Museum where a full size cable car cabin is on display as well as an interactive tour showing the aerial views that the five minute trip will offer.
It is still unclear when the construction will be finished. The Olympics remains a possibility but the 2012 summer seems to be the official line from TfL.
The project is sponsored by Emirates in a lucrative £36 million deal. The south terminal is to be named Emirates Greenwich Peninsula and the north Emirates Royal Docks.
