Coquette At Kettner's

Coquette At Kettner's

THE image of fashion has taken in a wealth of criticism over the years, particularly in terms of the ethical and social issues surrounding the scene. Yet many are still left wondering why a supposedly intelligent society are promoting dangerous diet pills and surgery to young girls, and why pictures of near-to-perfect women are being Photoshopped in magazines. Enter Coquette, Kettner’s new flagship event, which is all about pampering the real woman.

Sometimes a woman needs to be bold and admit that indulging in an extravagant and girly pampering session is exactly what she wants. There is nothing wrong with a pampering galore from time to time.

Sometimes a woman needs to be bold and admit that indulging in an extravagant and girly pampering session is exactly what she wants. There is nothing wrong with a pampering galore from time to time. In London especially, women often get caught up in the hectic happenings of the week and forget to take time out to unwind. Coquette is taking place on a series of Saturday afternoons at the legendary Kettner’s. After an intensive revamp of the building, that mirrors the frisson of the surrounding theatres, Kettner’s has been returned to its former glory. Now, the venue screams decadency and there couldn’t be a better place for a pamper party to take place.

Think beauty makeovers and make-up masterclasses from Benefit’s highly capable team, including their head make-up artist Lisa Potter Dixon, retro styling from vintage experts Rag & Bowl and Lipstick & Curl, whose capable hands will be transforming your luscious locks and expert priming, polishing and painting from the experts Nails Inc, who will relieve your hard-worked hands.

After the physical pampering binge, it’s time to top off your new look with a fresh ensemble. Go for retro by exploring the 1950s patterns in the pop-up vintage store, or stick to the decadency of the party and visit the fabulous designer range.

All dolled up, it’s time to take advantage of the other masterclasses, including cocktail making and swing dancing lessons. The most intriguing (and most important) class however, is The Art Of Kissing. Besides kissing class, the lessons go into detail about love and sex. Basically, they’ll cover what every girl should know. For those who are wondering if the time yet to come will behold more of such luxurious pampering, the fortune tellers in The Room Of Promise And Prophecy are happy to take a quick look into your future.

The afternoon wouldn’t be complete without some culinary delights. Remember, it’s all about pampering, so expect comfort food! Endless bottles of champagne, exquisite sandwiches, afternoon tea, cakes and puddings, all created by Kettner’s executive head chef, Winston Mathews, only make up a fraction of the menu.

It’s needless to say that Coquette’s afternoons are going to be the best afternoons of girly fun, indulgence and pampering in London. What more to say, the whole afternoon is dedicated to glamorous frivolity. It’s simply fun and maybe even semi-sinful...
