"Considering the location, it’s surprising that this market remains relatively un-gentrified. It’s open weekdays but busiest on a Saturday and is full of east end charm. You won’t find gourmet food and vintage furs here, it’s all about cheap clothing, cheap household goods and pie and mash.
But that’s exactly why I love it, and when I wandered around my focus was more on the characters that frequent it than the produce itself.
The shops on the street provide more of a mix – along with Iceland and the numerous fried chicken establishments, you’ve got old school bakeries, F Cooke, the pie and eel shop, the newer Hoxton Street Monster Supplies (just go and check it out) and Bacchus, a gastro pub I’d strongly recommend." – Kate Berry, photographer
