Diwali on the Square
Come Sunday, it’s time to celebrate the triumphant victory of good over evil in unconventional Hindu style at a 'this looks like Delhi' transformed Trafalgar Square, and since this year marks the tenth anniversary of Diwali on the Square, it promises to be one of the biggest celebrations as of yet. As part of the Hindu New Year festivities, Diwali (or Festival of Light in plain English) celebrates good’s victory with lots of yummy food, traditional dances (garbas) and music, all taking place in the midst of the colourful decorations and the oh-so spectacular atmospheric light displays.

Cheese And Wine Festival
Coming weekend, Friday, Saturday and Sunday see the square behind Royal Festival Hall covered in clustering stalls, full of the highest quality cheeses and wines, as the fall brings us an autumn themed fete: the Cheese and Wine Festival. “No wine snobbery. No gobbledygook. Just exciting new tastes to explore” is how the Festival advertises itself, opening the door for all of us lovely people who might not be educated in 'cheesonomeny', but love a good cheese or wine. Besides the food and drink, chefs from around town, including Valentina Harris and Laura Amos, are scheduled for several cooking or baking demonstrations – giving you the chance to see how not to overcook, burn or butcher your food.

Shoreditch Vintage Fair
Simply put, The Vintage Fair, its whereabouts a common knowledge among secondhand fanatics, has taken some of the best vendors under its wings and takes them on tour throughout Britain. This Saturday, they’ll bring their decade spanning collection to Shoreditch’s Town Hall, bringing over 50 vendors with them. The vintage – and affordable – clothing covers a wide time frame, spanning from the ladylike 1940s to the fluorescent 1980s for both men and women. In addition, you can expect to see an array of handmade jewellery and clothing, collectables and home ware, after which The Vintage Tea Party is the best stop.
