Lost Weekend: 15 – 17 July

YES, it’s meant to rain. But is that really going to get in the way of your weekend frivolities? Here’s this weekend’s best events to keep you entertained despite the predicted grey skies.

Launched at the beginning of this month, Lemonade is Stoke Newington’s newest weekly music night aiming to showcase upcoming musical and DJ talents. This week it’s the turn of disco duo Villa along with The C90s, Alpines, Cymbals and Youth Kills. Oh, and it’s free entry before 10:30pm.

36 – 44 Stoke Newington Road, London, N16 7XJ

It’s all set to go a bit jolly in Bedford Square on Saturday as the well-to-do (or those pretending to be) compete in events such as the Pipeathlon and Butler baiting and swooning.  Lipstick and Curls will be on hand to offering vintage hair and make up sessions too. Take your quaintest umbrella and go along for guaranteed giggles. Advance tickets are £15.

The Maille Mustard Boutique

Spitalfields has gone a bit yellow this weekend as it undergoes a Maille mustard makeover. There’s plenty of authentic tasting session, chances to talk to the experts and opportunities to learn about how the yellow stuff is made. And our new favourite Supper Club owner MsMarmiteLover will also be on hand to create some quality dishes.

Islington Exhibits

Both this weekend and next, the artwork of over 100 artists will be displayed across Islington. The artwork can be found everywhere and anywhere so be sure to look in obscure locations to see the work of a range of artists. If you don’t fancy roaming obliviously then there’s a guided walk on Sunday to offer direction.

Throughout Islington

LoveboxLoveboxLovebox Festival

We’ve already told you how much we love this festival, so it’s definitely a place to be seen this weekend. Scissor Sisters, Snoop Dogg and Jessie J will all be taking to one of the many stages. It starts today and runs until Sunday, with day tickets from £28.50. Bargain.

Victoria Park, E9

Sense of Thailand

This weekend sees the beginning of two weeks of Thai celebrations at Selfridges. With everything from Thai street food to contemporary Thai drinks on offer there’s plenty to get your teeth into. Even Hix Restaurant and Champagne bar will be undergoing a South Asian transformation with renowned Thai Chef Pogtawat Ian Chalermkittichai taking up a residency there.

The Vintage Kilo Sale

The Rag Factory will be stocked with tonnes of vintage clothing this Saturday, literally. In fact, there’ll be 2.5 tonnes of on-trend garments for shoppers to enjoy. There are more specific rules in place, but basically you pay £15 for a kilo of clothes. It’s a niche idea, buying the clothes by weight but the weighing station looks set to be a bit of fun. Entry is £1.
