The Pecking Order

Party tactics are just getting animal

The Pecking Order

AS the mayoral race is hotting up, so are the party tactics. The London Labour Party have taken to YouTube in an effort to get one up on current Tory Mayor, Boris Johnson.

Two clips have been uploaded showing a Boris look-a-like on a Barclays bike being chased by a person in a chicken suit.

The footage, which has already been dubbed 'Boris Johns-hen', is an attempt from labour to illustrate Johnson's shortcomings in his willingness to debate and defend his policies.

A spokesman for Mr Johnson said, "On a day when Boris Johnson delivered a budget which proposed freezing council tax for a fourth successive year and secured an extra 1,000 police, it is a sad reflection on Ken Livingstone that that's how he treats an announcement of such importance to Londoners."

Latest polls show Livingstone has a slender lead over Johnson ahead of the election on 3 May and this latest ploy is surely the start of an intense period of social media related tactical ploys. Watch this space.
